BMW E90 Adaptive Headlight problem

what's the significance of controlling the headlights with or without the sensor?  I have a 330i from a body shop with the right headlight replaced.  The headlight will steer without the sensor using x431 but not with sensor.  Can the sensor be replaced seperately or is this a coding issue?

What sensor did you replace?

fixing it for a body shop who replaced right headligt assy using the original module. The left light functions normally in all actuation tests and the new right light works fine up and down but will only swing if I use the option "without sensor" to control it. I can't find any codes or options for relearning or recoding the lights. Thanks, Tony Lester

Its worded that that when you use the Factory Group-tester 1 and functions the same way, since Launch emulates the factory tool.  Not all headlamps have the feature, so I assume its related to that.

its real common for the smc of the headlamp to be damaged by water. it also does not hurt to try to code the frm and see if that corrects the issue.
